Behind the name

Bill submitted the following to the SoCal Local Music Scene Fanzine:

They originally played under the name Phantom Scream Syndrome, which was designed to reference the phenomena of “Phantom Limb Syndrome“. The word “syndrome” was dropped to make the band name less of a mouthful.

When questioned about the meaning of the name, Guitarist Bill Ritter had the following to say:

“In the same way that people who deal with phantom limb syndrome […] we have seen a lot of people in our life, screaming ideas that aren’t their own. A lot of people live a phantom life that isn’t built on things that they have come to believe on their own, but rather they live a life built on what they have been told to believe. I guess we want to challenge ourselves and others to live a better life than that.”

The Website

Before February 28th, 2007, Phantom Scream has been on the internet through Myspace and Bryan’s Flickr photostream. On a whim, Bryan purchased PhantomScream.com. It’s hosted by AncientHosting. It runs off WordPress — because that’s how we roll.
