Just download our CD

download_chronology_ep.jpg

I convinced the others to let me do this. We want more exposure, but Myspace and PureVolume aren’t getting it done. (Not entirely their fault – it doesn’t help when we can’t promote ourselves as much as we’d like.)

We hope that you’ll like us enough that’ll you recommend it to your friends and send us a few bucks. Or, if you really like the feel of a physical CD, you can order that and we’ll send it to you…shrink-wrapped and ready to enjoy.

What’s the logic? Let’s say 10,000 people download and listen to our CD at no cost. If 5,000 people like it and [hopefully] send five bucks our way, that’s $25,000.

We’ll thrive on word-of-mouth. You’ll be our Street Team.

Catch? With the help of Amazon S3, we’re seeding it using Bittorrent. If you’re on Windows, µTorrent rocks. I think Mac users like Transmission, but I’m not sure. Nate Ritter loves Xtorrent.

Please seed our CD as long as you can.

I’ve said too much. I hope I didn’t lose you. Thanks and enjoy!

Note: So we can keep track of hits, please pass on this link as opposed to emailing the torrent file to your friends. Also, notice that the PayPal link isn’t up yet – I’ll put that up ASAP.

Click here to Download Chronology EP [Direct] – Mooch, but understandable if you don’t do Bittorrents.

Update 2007-12-04 8:50am: I’ve changed my mind. Since I’m discriminating people who don’t use Bittorrent, I’ll put the “direct” download link. (I’m not showing the exact location.) When the bandwidth for the month gets too high for me, I’ll remove the link and file. But, I’ll put it back the next month.

Update 9:27am: Thanks to Fireside Media for donating a lot of bandwidth! I feel blessed.

Hey Long Beach!

Our awesome friend, Logan, gave out 62 copies of Chronology EP (minus a few tracks) to friends and random strangers in Long Beach. If you’re reading this, we hope you loved the music!

Add us at Myspace because we post bulletins for our shows and stuff, or subscribe to this RSS feed (if you know what I’m talking about).

Great, your eyes glazed over.

Anyway, thanks Logan!

Chronology EP released!

We had a great show last night – it was awesome rocking with alongside Five Mile Town and Six Shooter Mary! Thanks to everyone who came to see us, and a special thanks to Alex Orsburn for manning the table in the back and selling CDs for us.

If you weren’t there, you’ll want the Chronology EP, huh? :)

EP finished

We’re finished with our first EP! We just have to title it and make CDs to get it out to the world. It came out really good and we’re all proud of it.

Bill got the mastered copy, cut up the songs, faded them in and out, then saved it as a short sample. You can hear it at our Myspace page.

On a quasi-side note, we got Michael Tadman (deviantART) to do artwork for us. His work is tight!

Lovely Saturday

Bill, James and I are going to jam in the garage in an hour. James is more reluctant because he’s exhausted from intense manual labor these past two weeks. Anyway, it sounds like Bill’s got new material up his sleeve and he wants me to get on bass guitar since Dan’s leaving in two months.

I’m not looking forward to the heat of the garage. (What else is new?)

At 1pm, Bill’s going back to meet with Nacho (from 459 Audio Recreations) to redo one of the guitar parts in one of the songs. James and I might tag along. There’s a few small things we wanted to tweak before Nacho gets it mastered.

How’s your Saturday?

Reeling from last Friday and scrutinizing EP songs

Since we haven’t updated you about our upcoming EP, now is as good of a time as any. Before I talk about that, last Friday at No Future Cafe was awesome! I was overwhelmed with the old and new faces. We had a great time, and from what I heard from most of you, the feeling is mutual. Very cool.

As for the recording, we got the unmastered tracks a couple days ago. There are some minor things that Bill wants to fix. For the most part, it sounds amazing. I’m really anxious to get the songs out, but we need to make sure it’s just right.

CD Baby sounds like a cool place to sell these CDs, and if we go with them, we’ll probably use their digital distribution service, too. (Thanks for the awesome suggestions, Jon Glassett!)

I was talking to Prescott (from Five Mile Town) about what they went with, but that was before the show and I didn’t write anything down. Being nervous before the show didn’t help, either. I should get on the ball real quick.

Alright, so that’s all from me for now. I would say tell your friends, but the songs on our Myspace page aren’t as good as we have now. Ok, ok, tell your friends. Our next show, which hasn’t been booked yet, will be off the hook.

Off…the hook…

P.S. If you took photos of us from the show, can you send them to us at theband@phantomscream.com? We all get email sent there forwarded to our own accounts, so there’s no need to send it to us separately. Thanks!

Recording under way

I want to quote what Bill said about the recording process:

We started recording on Saturday and it’s going pretty well. We’ll probably be able to release our EP, which is yet to be titled, around September. If you have any ideas for a title, […] let us know what you think we should call it — so we can tell you why your suggestion is stupid.

That last part was sarcasm. I think.

Bottom line, yesterday’s recordings went well. James did the drum tracks, I did my guitar tracks, and Dan did the bass tracks. Next Saturday (7/1), Bill will do his guitar tracks, and lastly, we’ll do the vocals (which consists of Doc, Bill and me).

Personally, I hope we can release in August. But, I’m not sure what the time frame is between finishing recording, the mastering process, and creating the CDs. For me, I just want to get it out because people have been waiting for it.

But, wouldn’t you want it done right?

See you all soon!

Recording very soon

On Wednesday, Bill met with Jon (Nacho) Gollihugh of 459 Audio Recreations. At the end of June and the beginning of July, we’ll be taking two Saturdays to record a demo.

Or is it an EP?

It doesn’t matter. Bottom line — we’re doing a professional recording! (We’re not signed. This’ll be paid out-of-pocket.)

Dan’s leaving us

From Dan:

It’s official. I joined the Air Force today. Basic [training] after August 14th.

He’s been thinking about going for awhile now, and he took the test weeks ago. Today, he finally found out that he’s in. We’re not sure what we’ll do. If I take over bass, Dan says he’ll let me use his equipment. We’ll probably talk things over this weekend at practice.

Update 5/9/07: Dan will be leaving on September 25th for basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas.
